John's thirst for beer started like most people's, back in middle school sneaking sips from our parents glass when they weren't looking - and they were ALWAYS looking! After entering, and then winning, several home brewing competitions, he decided it was time to take his craft to the next level, and that was in 1999. He took samples of his winning home brew to a local brewery for several months, until they decided to put him to work - that was Elliott Bay Brewery in West Seattle. Since then John went on to brew for Maritime Pacific in Seattle, Bear Creek in Redmond, Pacific Rim in White Center, McMenamins in Queen Anne, Elliot Bay Brewery in Burien, and Northwest Brewing Company in Pacific. At one point in his career, he was working at 3 breweries at the same time, oh to be young again!
In 2014 John took all of the beer knowledge that he had amassed over the years, and with his wife, decided to open a bar that focused exclusively on craft beer. With 19 taps, Pit Stop Taproom & Pub boasts Burien's best craft beer and cider selection. With over 4000 breweries in the United States, and an average of 2 opening per day, it makes it more and more difficult to visit all of them - and that is where Pit Stop Taproom & Pub comes in, we bring the breweries to you! Our taps are always rotating some new delicious beer from mostly Pacific Northwest breweries, so that you won't miss out!
